Bakers of the North West celebrate The Cake and Bake Show in Manchester

8 April, 2014

This weekend, BAKO NW visited the Cake and Bake show, when it returned to Manchester central for a jam-packed three day schedule of demonstrations and competitions.

The show welcomed star guests including master patissier Eric Lanlard, TV cook Rosemary Schrager, Great British Bake off winners John Whaite and Frances Quinn and Britain’s Best Bakery’s Mich Turner. Each of these renowned chefs and bakers shared their expertise at the show through a series of demonstrations in the Cake and Bake kitchen theatre.

The Cake and Bake show’s marketplace set the senses alive with sensational aromas, eye-catching displays and mouth-watering treats from bakers around the UK. There was everything on offer from bread and pastries to cupcakes and cookies!

Renshaw baking also held a modelling magic competition, which challenged bakers to create their most impressive Easter themed model using only 200g of Renshaw Ready to Roll Icing or marzipan.

The highlight of the event, though, had to be the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ installation from a collective of sixteen cake artists and bakers known as Cake Bomb me, who create outstanding edible installations on a grand scale. The team’s impressive display played home to the show’s jungle cake competition, entered by professionals and home bakers alike.
