#CBW15 celebrations begin

25 September, 2015

Now in its seventh year, Craft Bakers Week aims to raise awareness of the art and skill of bread making. BAKO are proud supporters of Craft Bakers Week as a key supplier to the baking industry for over 50 years, we’re passionate about providing high quality ingredients to create perfect pastries, pies and bread.

From soft and sticky Chelsea buns to traditional Bakewell tart, craft baking is an art that many bakers spend their whole career perfecting. Craft Bakers Week aims to preserve these skills with a week of tastings, promotions, competitions and fundraising activities for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Organised on behalf of the hundreds of craft bakers across the UK who are an integral part of the British high street and their local communities, Craft Bakers Week brings bakers from across the country together to tempt customers into their bakeries. Murrays Bakers are one of many taking part: “We love to take part in Craft Bakers’ Week as it is a great cause. We will donate every penny from the bakes we make for the week, and we always raise a great amount for charity. We get a fantastic buzz out of trying new products and taste testing them – as do the customers, who get to try the new products and give us feedback, which often results in new products becoming permanent sellers!”

Bakers taking part in Craft Bakers’ Week will be encouraged to raise money for this UK wide charity during the week itself – through a variety of activities from customer donations to competitions. This year bakeries have the opportunity to be voted the Most Loved Bakery in the Craft Bakers Week Awards. Many of the nations’ high street bakeries are family businesses that have been passed down through the generations – along with skills and even secret recipes! So this is a great chance to celebrate the art of craft baking and the delicious bread, cakes and so much more, that the nations’ bakers produce every day.

Don’t hesitate to plan a trip to your local bakery, you can find out which bakeries in your area are participating here, and tell us all about your Craft Bakers Week celebrations on our Twitter.
