Here at BAKO North Western, we’re always impressed by the incredible edible delicacies our customers whip up using BAKO’s extensive range of professional quality baking ingredients, but this week we’ve heard some extra special news.
We’re delighted to announce that one of our customers, Emma King of Funky Food Café in Southport, has got in touch to tell us she’s made it through to the National Cupcake Championships final.
Emma beat off the competition in the first round of the contest, held during National Cupcake Week, with her beautiful ‘Best British Hero’ cupcakes, dedicated to military charity Help For Heroes.
The home-grown pride doesn’t stop there though, as Emma’s recipe also uses a variety of classic British ingredients, sourced locally. The subtle combination of fragrant elderflower, zingy gooseberries and sharp rhubarb combine brilliantly for a nostalgic taste of English Summers from years gone by.
These fresh flavours are lovingly enveloped in a cake mix and buttercream icing made using flour, caster sugar, baking powder and icing sugar from the BAKO Own Label range, which Emma says she swears by for all her wonderful sweet creations.
Of course we’re incredibly proud of Emma’s efforts so far, but the contest is far from over. Emma wins a free pass to leading industry show Cake International in London on 9th November, where she will be taking on fourteen other talented professional bakers in the final of the contest.
We would sincerely love to wish Emma all the best in the last stage of the contest from everyone here at BAKO NW– we’re keeping all our fingers firmly crossed for you!
